The Farewell Pilgrimage

In 632 CE, the Prophet ﷺ performed his first and only complete Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah — accompanied by over 100,000 companions. At Mount Arafat, he delivered the Farewell Sermon (Khutbat al-Wada'), one of the most profound speeches in human history, addressing the equality of all people, the rights of women, the prohibition of usury, the sanctity of life and wealth, and the sufficiency of Islam as a complete way of life.

The Final Days

After returning to Madinah, the Prophet ﷺ fell ill. He continued to lead prayers as long as his strength allowed, then directed Abu Bakr to lead in his place. He spent his final days in the room of Aisha bint Abi Bakr. His last words were reported to be "Rather the highest companion" — choosing to be with Allah. He passed away on 12 Rabi' al-Awwal, 11 AH, at approximately 63 years of age.

Muhammad ﷺ left behind the Quran — unchanged, memorised by millions, preserved letter for letter as revealed — and the Sunnah recorded in the Hadith collections you will find throughout this site. His community grew from a single individual to a civilisation spanning continents within a century, and today over 1.8 billion people follow his guidance. His legacy is not just religious — it encompasses law, governance, science, ethics, art, and the dignity of every human being.
